Jack Lynch

Jack is a multi-faceted communications professional, with a diverse portfolio of work across the public and private sectors. He has written for international publications covering sport and the arts, and has served as an editor for a number of prominent mastheads.

 Jack has spent more than half his life working with bikes. Beginning as a trainee mechanic at the local shop as a young teenager, he worked his way up through the industry to become one of its most respected voices. Whether writing about the finest bikes in the world, covering World Tour races, or penning travelogues, Jack’s passion for all things cycling shines in his work.

Melbourne

Predominantly road but I ride all disciplines from time to time

Favourite cycling holiday destination?
Anywhere on the Great Ocean Road...or Italy!

What drew you to cycling in the first place?
I grew up next to a bike track which spanned 50kms+ and wanted to get out of the house as much as possible.

What does cycling mean to you today?
The same as it did when I was a kid but with some extra responsibilities. Exploration, freedom, social leadership, sustainability, fast commuting!

Disc brakes.  Yes or no?
Absolutely in some circumstances. I usually run rim brakes on my roadie though.

Best team kit in the World Tour?
I wouldn't wear any of them unless you paid me...

Summer or Winter?
Summer

Sprinter or Climber?
Neither. I go up hills better than I sprint though.

Cycling hero?
Jai Hindley's 2020 Giro was pretty heroic.
