Bump Track and Beyond

Located just behind the beautiful resort village of Port Douglas, the Bump Track is a popular place to start your MTB adventure in Queensland’s Tropical North.  Just 6km in length, the track was originally an access track for Aboriginal people and was then further developed by miners and early settlers to connect the coast and hinterland.  The spectacular views of the coastline from the top are a great excuse to catch your breath!

Most people will ride the track in both directions.  Starting at the bottom, you are hit with a 2km climb (400m in fact) before rolling up and down for the last 4km.  The grueling climb is completely worth it when you get to turn around and experience the downhill race to the bottom.

Both ends of the Bump Track are connected to a wider trail network, all within easy reach of Port Douglas.  The following tracks are on the list of local favourites:

  • Daintree Village/Creb Track (65km between Daintree and Wujal Wujal)
  • Mt. Lewis Track (28km of rainforest ridges, 1200m above sea level)
  • Twin Bridges (18km of dense rainforest and river crossings)
  • Triple-R Race Route (distances between 35km and 70km along the routes of the famous Triple-R mountain bike race.  Stay updated on this ridiculously fun race here)
