Brekky in Brisbane

With several bike lanes and cycleways, Brisbane is the perfect place to get around and explore by bike, year-round.  And nothing beats Brisbane winters where legwarmers and gloves just aren’t a thing.  The upcoming Brisbane Cycling Festival andTour de Brisbane are set to attract cyclists from a little further away, so we thought we’d help out all the newcomers to find some much-loved breakfast/brunch cafés by local riders.

  1. Morning After, Cambridge Street, West End

From simple, healthy options (eggs on toast) through to insanely indulgent (blue swimmer crab omelette with chilli), this all day breakfast menu will make you think long and hard before you make your choice.

  1. Pawpaw Café, 898 Stanley Street East, Woolloongabba

We know that it might seem boring to highlight the banana bread when there are so many other delicious dishes to try but you’ll understand exactly what we mean when you try it (heated with butter and honey of course!).  The breakfast menu is available all day so there’s no rush to finish your ride.

  1. Little Loco, 121 Merthyr Road, New Farm

We know it’s wrong to like a café because it’s cute…but it is.  It’s always bustling with happy customers and staff and if you’re vegetarian or vegan, there are heaps of yummy options to choose from.  The kitchen closes at 12:30pm daily.

  1. Little Hideout Café, 2/185 Riding Road, Balmoral

The address is kind of a giveaway, but this café is a popular stop for many local cyclists.  The outdoor courtyard is the perfect “little hideaway” at the end of a ride to enjoy their brekky menu and great coffee.  Lots of vegan and gluten-free options available.

  1. Espresso Garage, 180 Grey Street, Southbank

Join the local bunches as they flock to this bike-friendly café.  We love the eggs benedict on brioche and are slowly working our way through the menu and adding to our list favourites.  The Garage crew make a great coffee too!
